About
The first album Catch 22 made after the iconic Keasbey Nights, and the first with the band's second lineup (having lost, among others, Tomas Kalnoky, their vocalist and songwriter). The album ends with 7 (seven) blank tracks 0:22 long each and a bonus track, artificially raising the track count to 22. If anything sets Catch 22 apart from the myriad other ska-punk ensembles, it's the scorching guitar of Pat Calpin, which transforms Alone in a Crowd from simply another quirky dance record to something bordering arena-sized hard rock. The songs themselves are typically angst-ridden affairs, although "San Francisco Payphone" and the aptly titled "Wreck of the Sloop John B" mix things up enough to keep the listener interested.
