Bibio is the moniker that self-taught British musician Stephen James Wilkinson has taken, named after a fishing fly he and his father used way back in the good ol days. He creates a blend of electronica and folk music, using a combination of tape loops, dictaphones, cassette recorders, and hordes of other lo-fi equipment. Bibio's folk-inspired guitar noodling is constantly on the fritz, with swelling drone soundscapes and a multitude of effects in never-ending struggle for dominance. Bibio's first release on Mush records, Fi, was released in 2004, followed up in 2006 by the release of Hand Cranked, also on Mush.
