On 22 July 2024, Bastille announced a four-part project named "&" (pronounced "ampersand"). The first four songs from the project were released four days later, with a full album due for release on 25 October. The project, a concept album based on personal stories in history, features acoustic songs written by Dan Smith with collaborators being featured as instrumentalists.
