"Sketches" is the seventeenth album by Scottish folk musician Bert Jansch, released virtually simultaneously with another album, "The Ornament Tree". All tracks on the album were composed by Bert Jansch except track 8 "Afterwards" which is by Peter Kirtley. Sketches was recorded in Hamburg in a single week, was produced by Danny Thompson who also accompanied Bert and Peter (Kirtley) alongside a trio of local players. Sketches was rumored to have been made on a low budget has a cheap and cheerful ambience. Given a low-key release on the Temple label in the UK holds a few gems like the reworking of "The Old Routine". The cover sleeve designed by Heather Jansch.
